GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:
The Quality Engineer will plan, implement and control various methods, equipment, procedures, and costs to monitor and control product quality as established by the Plant Quality Manager and Corporate Directives in areas of receiving inspection, final inspection, audit inspection, and other related areas.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Assist in planning product quality goals and objectives.
● Establish and implement applicable procedures for inspection of products, materials, and processes at various stages in manufacturing.
● Assist in defining standards to be used as acceptance criteria for products and materials based on customer feedback.
● Implement timely notification of discrepancies in process material to those responsible. Ensure adequate inspection records are maintained. Assist with corrective actions to repetitive quality problems.
● Train others on standards and processes as needed to make continuous improvements.
● Manage activities required for non-conforming material. Supervise the containment, rework, and release of product.
● Analyze customer complaint reports and internal failure reports. Research causes of recurring failures and implement permanent corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
● Supervise activities of Q.A. Analysis/Inspectors/Technicians/QE Technicians as timelines and objectives dictate.
● Provide required equipment, methods, procedures, and staffing to maintain adequate precision measuring instruments for the various manufacturing areas.
● Provide assistance with internal/external supplier issues.
● Visit supplier or customer facilities when required to discuss quality related issues.
● Perform process capability studies and measurement system analysis to assist in solving problems as requested by internal or external customers or as need dictates.
● Write objective reports based on observed data with applicable statistical data analysis techniques to draw scientific conclusions.
● When required, act as a Representative for the Quality Management System.
● Support production document (WI, JI, prints, etc) creation, management, and control as required.
● Support lean manufacturing concepts by seeking and reducing waste.
● Work with management, engineering, and other staff regarding capabilities, scheduling, and other considerations to facilitate the production of products for the customer. Other duties as determined by the Quality Manager.
EXPERIENCE:
● Experience preferred but not required, with a preference for manufacturing and metrology processes.
EXPERTISE:
● Ability to supervise Quality Assurance Technicians and advise on Quality Assurance Procedures.
● Specialized knowledge and working ability of S.P.C. concepts and implementation techniques including performing and interpreting gage R & Rs or MSEs.
● Knowledge of Six Sigma tools, including Design of Experiments
● Knowledge of APQPs, FMEAs, PPAPs
● Knowledge of document software such as Google Workspace or MS Office products.
EDUCATION:
● BS in Engineering (e.g. Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial) or a minimum of 7 years relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.

LOCALIZATION AND TRAVEL EXPECTED:
● This position is located onsite in Yankton, SD
● Limited occasional travel may be required.
