GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY

 

The Financial Reporting Accountant is a significant role for the organization to ensure the delivery of accurate and timely financial reporting on a monthly basis.  This role directly collaborates with the Controller to ensure accounting processes are functioning efficiently and accurately, and to investigate questions from executives concerning financial results.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare monthly financial reporting packages for the Manitou North America (MNA) entity and monthly activity reporting packages for the Manitou Equipment America (MEA) entity following the Manitou Group Financial Guidelines.
  • Complete MNA and MEA intergroup reconciliations for the month end close.
  • Complete assigned month end journal entries and financial reporting in accordance with communicated deadlines.
  • Prepare capital lease accounting in accordance with IFRS 16.
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations for other assigned accounts.
  • Perform analysis to respond to questions regarding financial statements from VP Finance and/or Manitou Group Consolidation Team
  • Assist the Tax Manager to complete sales & use tax reporting and government surveys.
  • Contribute in preparation of the annual budget and forecasting.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

 

Education & Experience, required:

  • Bachelors’ degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Minimum 3 years of work experience in accounting/finance department.

Education & Experience, preferred:

  • CPA with public accounting experience.
  • Accounting – Understanding of accounting concepts for both US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) as well as International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).  Familiarity with the differences between US GAAP and IFRS.

Knowledge and Skills, required:

  • Problem Solving – Ability to identify problems and work with Controller to provide specific solutions that resolve the problem.
  • Organization – Ability to maintain accurate and detailed work product utilizing Excel and Google applications.
  • Attention to Detail - Ability to thoroughly analyze and identify outliers or errors in data sets.
  • Communication - Ability to communicate ideas and data in a persuasive and organized manner, including working with the Controller to prepare presentations for executive audiences.
  • Time Management – Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines in a changing environment.  Ability to be flexible, accommodating, and to deal with change effectively.
  • Customer Service Orientation – Ability to gain the trust of leaders at both the local and parent entity levels by demonstrating command over your individual work product and an understanding of the business.
  • Analytical Skills – Ability to apply problem solving methods and analyses to address business questions.
  • Teamwork – Ability to foster good working relationships and contribute in a team environment.
  • Entrepreneurial – Ability to display “out of the box” thinking, seeking opportunities for efficiency and enhancements to existing processes.

Knowledge and Skills, preferred:

  • Previous experience in accounting for a company with a foreign parent company.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems and Consolidation software.
