GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:
SDE implements supplier development strategies to significantly improve Manitou’s global supply base. Such strategies include support of critical supplier capacity, and resolution of supply chain and delivery issues to ensure the continuity of supply to our customers. The position provides a critical proactive role for supplier readiness for volume increases, new product launches, and alternative sourcing strategies. SDE supports operations in supply chain crisis situations, developing and implementing short-term recovery and long-term improvement plans.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support the US manufacturing plants:
● Support Manitou’s US manufacturing plants and service organization on major supplier issues related to service rate. Drive supplier recovery plans and service rate improvement activities.
● Engage with Sourcing, Planning, Operations, Quality, Engineering, and Suppliers to continuously improve the performance of the supply chain
Improve the Supply Chain performance:
● Improve overall QCD performances: Develop supply base on Manitou QCD performance requirements, maintaining close connection with Manitou manufacturing plants. Analyze performance metrics of low performing suppliers and drive corrective actions to resolve root cause of low performance
● Quality (Q) Improvement: Reduce defects, eliminate rework and improve process capability, leading to fewer issues in Manitou’s production lines. Lead part and process qualification audit and PPAP evaluation for strategic sourcing part moves.
● Cost (C) Reduction: Reduce total cost of ownership by eliminating waste and improving efficiency which can lead to sustainable cost reductions for both parties.
● Delivery (D) Improvement: Improve supplier’s On-Time Delivery (OTD) performance, responsiveness and capacity to ensure reliable and flexible supply chain.
● Process and system audits: Lead the team to conduct Supplier Qualification Audits; evaluate manufacturing processes and capacity; and monitor improvements or corrective actions found during the audit.
● Root Cause Analysis (RCA) & Corrective Actions: Lead joint teams using structured problem-solving tools to identify and eliminate the true root causes of recurring issues. Ensure timely implementation of permanent corrective actions.
● Supply Chain Resiliency and Risk Mitigation: Identify risk in the supply chain and prepare mitigation plans
● Contribute actively to Global Sourcing and Supplier Development Leadership Team; fostering a culture of high performance, continuous improvement, and professional growth. 

 

EDUCATION:
● Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Systems, or related field

EXPERIENCE:
● 5–8 years’ experience in manufacturing, operations, supply chain, and logistics processes
● Experience in Supplier Quality or Supplier Development or Performance
● Experience with cross-functional team in moderately vertically integrated manufacturing environment
● Experience and knowledge across a variety of manufacturing processes
● Global Supply Chain Experience preferred
● Commodity experience: machined forgings and castings, electrical harnesses, embedded electronics, hydraulic systems, off-road transmissions, steel weldments.

 

KNOWLEDGE:
● Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
● Knowledge or experience in New Product Development process
● Maintains consistent and clear communication with executive leadership and key stakeholders on status and resolution of critical supplier issues
● Customer-oriented, with a good capacity for listening, analysis and critical thinking necessary during interventions on supplier sites
● Multi-site manufacturing with centralized sourcing experience preferred
● Green Belt / Black Belt 6-Sigma Certifications a plus
● Solid experience in Lean, Kanban Tools, Warehouse management, ERP/MRP a plus
● Strategic mindset; strong sense of organization and priorities; ability to operate effectively with ambiguity; willing to address difficult situations, saying what needs to be said, and handling conflict effectively; rebound from setbacks; cultivate innovation creating new and better ways for the organization to be successful.

 

INTERNAL / EXTERNAL CONNECTIONS:
● Must be able to work with all levels of internal and supplier management teams, including internationally

 

LOCALIZATION AND TRAVEL EXPECTED:
● Located in Madison, SD; Yankton, SD; OR West Bend, WI
● Travel up to 25%, both domestic and international
