Technical Writer II

The Technical Writer II position completes development and maintenance of documentation with guidance from Senior Technical Writers.  General duties include developing and verifying full documents, completing editing reviews, and supporting critical functions within the writing team.  The Technical Writer II reports to the Technical Publications Supervisor.



  • Creates individual procedures and orders procedures effectively to complete a full manual
  • Identifies and completes illustrations and other images to complete procedures and documents
  • Completes editing of full documents, including those written by other employees, with a full understanding of all styles and standards
  • Publishes documents into various locations
  • Completes complex research and verification, working with subject matter experts throughout the organization
  • Identifies, manages, incorporates, and publishes content provided by translators and other outside services
  • Manages full documents, including content provided by other writers
  • Assists in management of large-scale projects
  • Consistently focuses on customer satisfaction



Education/Work experience

  • 3-8 years of experience preferred in a pertinent/similar role
  • Significant experience in both communication and a pertinent technical field, or expertise in either communication or a pertinent technical field and some experience in the other
  • Bachelor's Degree in technical communications or equivalent, or Bachelor's Degree in communications or engineering and substantial experience with communications and technical information

Specific knowledge

  • Significant experience with and understanding of Adobe Creative Cloud software suite
  • Significant experience with and understanding of Microsoft Office software suite
  • Significant experience with and understanding of ERP systems
  • Significant experience with and understanding of CAD/PIM systems
  • Effective listening, oral, and written communication skills, including confident communication with superiors and peers
  • Organized planning for managing daily tasks and long term projects, with effective time management
  • Ability to distinquish between crucial and trivial tasks, with effective prioritization of daily and weekly activities

Position based in West Bend, WI with 1-3 domestic business trips per year.  Some international travel possible.
