Sourcing Analyst

Job Description

The Sourcing Analyst is an integral role within the Manitou Americas’ sourcing team.  The position will support specific sourcing initiatives and supplier negotiations to help achieve cost reduction goals by providing timely, accurate, and relevant analysis and recommendations regarding supplier selection and savings opportunities. The scope will include preliminary material acquisition through final production with this position acting as a key liaison between Design Engineering, New Product Development, Supply Chain, Site Purchasing, and Suppliers.


Position Responsibilities

  • Quantify costs from a total cost of ownership (TCO) perspective across Manitou’s supply chain to help identify opportunities to remove waste.
  • Develop and review RFI, RFQ and RFP’s consistent with Divisional best practices and policies.
  • Perform supplier spend analysis for internal reporting purposes in support of sourcing activities.
  • Interpret competitive market cost study results to provide timely, accurate, and concise summaries to be presented and utilized during supplier negotiations.
  • Track supplier negotiations status and outcomes.
  • Estimate cost savings potential of identified cost savings initiatives.
  • Recommend supplier selection based on Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Integration criteria.
  • Ensure compliance with the Divisional sourcing strategies; utilizing existing/preferred suppliers and receiving direction from Commodity Managers.
  • Serve as cross-site Engineering liaison for New Product Development purchase requisition activities.
  • Process purchase requisitions in IFS and manage supplier communications.
  • Coordinate the implementation of identified cost savings initiatives with support from Commodity Managers and Site Purchasing teams while minimizing disruptions to production and exposure to inventory obsolescence.
  • Monitor and report actual cost savings as compared to budgeted/planned savings.
  • Maintain supplier performance metrics related to Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Integration.
  • Performs other related duties and assignments as assigned.



  • A Bachelor’s degree; concentration in Supply Chain or Operations Management is a plus; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 4 + years of experience as an individual contributor in Purchasing or Supply Chain function.
  • Change management experience gained in a lean manufacturing or six sigma environment is preferred.
  • Practical knowledge of how supply chains work and ability to assess cost drivers of industrial processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively; with strong networking, influencing, and communication skills; and to drive effective project execution.
  • Team player who can successfully interact with internal and external organizations and effectively communicate verbally and in writing in a timely manner to ensure positive results.
  • IFS experience or working knowledge of other ERP systems.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills inclusive of all Microsoft Business Suite required (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, Visio, PowerPoint, etc.).
