Warehouse Custodian

General Accountability:

A Janitor is responsible for maintaining routine housekeeping practices to promote safety, cleanliness and organization (5S) within the warehouse.

• Insure warehouse floors are swept and free of debris using a push broom and Powered Floor Scrubber
• Perform routine garbage checks in the warehouse, bathrooms & offices and discard in trash compactor
• Insure cardboard from all departments in shipping & receiving areas are routinely collected and transported to cardboard compactor for recycling
• Collect wood pallets, wood crates and wood scrap and transport to housekeeping area and load in a trailer for recycling
• Operate a Walky Ryder/Forklift to transport trash hoppers, pallets & other material as needed
• Be able to lift up to 50 lbs as part of the job function while using safe lifting requirements
• Must perform within the Company Safety Program and Polices
• Able to stand for extended periods of time, lifting multiple pounds regularly
• Must be willing to be cross-trained in other areas in the warehouse as needed

• Requires a high school education or equivalent

• Forklift Certification preferred
• Previous warehouse experience preferred
• Previous experience with a Barcode Scanning system/hand-held preferred

• Must be a self-starter, motivated and focused to work independently within the established perimeters assigned.
• Ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively within the warehouse
• Attention to detail and organization skills needed
• Learn Lean Philosophy within the organization to focus on and participate in Continuous improvement & learning to improve processes, efficiencies and increased profitability.
