GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:

Manitou America is hiring a Material Flow Engineer in Madison, SD. The Material Flow Engineer is responsible for designing and improving processes of moving materials throughout the factory and warehouse, including lineside material presentation, warehouse optimization, returnable packaging, flow, and logistics. The individual is highly focused with a strong presence on the factory floor and interfaces with Production Supervisors, Team Leads, Material Handlers, and Supply Chain.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Use Lean Manufacturing concepts to drive out wastes within the factory as it is related to inventory management.
  • Lead and develop systems for sustaining material delivery methods and storage of material throughout the facility.
  • Ensure ergonomic and safe conditions for the movement and storage of material in the warehouse and production.
  • Manage master planning data in order to Plan for Every Part (PFEP) including packaging, storage, and delivery of material. Participate in phase-in / phase-out programs and new product introductions.
  • Participate in the change order process to manage the implementation of parts and manage all serial number breaks.
  • Work with the manufacturing and materials team to set up assembly lines for new production models. This includes correct box and bin size to minimize material handling and support lean manufacturing.
  • Identify and solve top concerns as related to material issues causing shortages and time lost.
  • Work with team members to expand the implementation of barcodes in the plant to help with line fulfillment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • Manufacturing experience 

 

EXPERTISE:

  • Proficiency in Google Suite and Computer-Aided Drafting (CAD) software
  • Experience in operations, inventory management, MRP, and lean manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and different types of material flow processes.
  • Ability to work with a wide range of people to gain information.
  • Detail-oriented and self-driven in projects

 

EDUCATION:

  • College degree in a related field or 5+ years of procurement or planning experience.

 

INTERNAL & EXTERNAL CONNECTIONS:

  • Must be able to interact with all levels of the organization.

 

LOCALIZATION AND TRAVEL EXPECTED:

  • This position is located at our Madison, SD plant.
  • 5% travel required.
